Girl Bathes Friend With Acid For Allegedly Attempting To Snatch Husband


A lady in her early twenties, Judith Odo, on Tuesday poured raw acid on her school mate and friend, Miss Peace Asogwa, for allegedly attempting to snatch her husband.

A source close to the victim said but for divine intervention, the incident which occurred at Orba in Udenu local government area of Enugu State would have terminated the life of Peace.
It was gathered that Judith’s three year old marriage with one Kenneth, which was consistently plagued with quarrels, led to a partial divorce between the duo.
The marriage, as it was further gathered, ended over a year ago when Judith moved out of her matrimonial home, a situation that forced her husband to commence search for another wife.
“He approached Peace for marriage. When Judith noticed that he was frequently visiting Peace, she took offence because both of them were not just class mates but close friends from Orba in Udenu local government area of Enugu State. So she settled for the acid option”, the source explained.
The acid bath victim, who is receiving medical attention at the St. Teresa's Hospital Obollo-Afor, told our correspondent that the incident happened while she was sleeping.
“I was sleeping in my room around 2am when some persons broke into our house. I looked up and saw Judith and four men. As soon as they came in, she started abusing me, and said she had come to end my life since I was trying to take over her husband.
“I was so shocked because even though Kenneth was approaching me for marriage, I never agreed for one day, and I am not even thinking of accepting him.
“Before I knew what was happening, she had emptied the content she had collected from one of the boys on me. Immediately, I noticed that it was raw acid. It was by providence that it didn't affect my face, but you can see that the whole part of my body has been wrecked. I started shouting for help and they took to their heels. Our people now brought me to this hospital".
LEADERSHIP gathered that Judith was later arrested at her maternal home.
